Quality Control Inspectors
Quality Control Inspectors (QCs) inspect and grade California’s agricultural products based on federal, state, and industry standards. Responsibilities include sample selection, pressure testing, titration, safety reporting, and defect analysis. You’ll receive training and licensing to evaluate commodities such as fruits, vegetables, and nuts, ensuring they meet quality and safety requirements:
- Almonds, Apples, Avocados,
- Cherries, Citrus, Corn, Kiwi
- Olive Oil, Onions
- Peaches, Pistachios, Potatoes
- Table Grapes, Tomatoes, Walnuts
Agricultural Specialist
Our Agricultural Specialists support the Citrus Program’s pest management efforts by rearing and releasing biological control agents. Key responsibilities include fieldwork, plant care, data collection, and public outreach. This role is vital to protecting California’s crops from harmful pests and supporting sustainable agriculture.
Office Technician (Administrative Support)
Office Technicians support the Inspection and Compliance Program by performing administrative tasks such as generating reports, preparing documents, processing payroll, and managing travel claims. Candidates should have:
- 2–3 years of office experience
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- A high school diploma (some college experience preferred)
- A valid driver’s license with a clean record
Fruit Fly Inspector
Join our Fruit Fly Eradication Program as a Fruit Fly Inspector. No prior experience is required – paid training is provided. Inspectors are responsible for surveying regulated sites, collecting specimens, completing detailed reports, and interacting with the public. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and are passionate about protecting California’s environment and agriculture.
Lab and Biological Technician
Our Laboratory and Biological Technicians support the Citrus Research Board’s Biocontrol Program by cultivating plants, rearing insects, and assisting with biological research. Responsibilities include managing insectaries, collecting field data, and contributing to field-based experiments that support pest management strategies.
Trappers
Our Trappers play a vital role in monitoring California’s plant health by servicing traps, collecting pest samples, and maintaining GPS-based data. This position involves traveling to field sites, identifying pests, and interacting with the public to support statewide pest detection and eradication efforts.
